EME War Memorial

The EME War Memorial is a solemn military monument located in Bolarum, Secunderabad (Telangana), near Headquarters 1 EME Centre at a prominent tri-junction. It stands as a tribute to the fallen heroes of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers.

The memorial features a 7.62-metre high obelisk made of stone, topped by a pyramid, mounted on a 1.83-metre square pedestal over a 5.49-metre square platform. It was designed by Mr. Eric Marret, former Chief Architect of Andhra Pradesh.

Dedicated on 7 October 1967 by Maj Gen S.P. Vohra, Colonel Commandant and DEME, the memorial honours all those who laid down their lives to maintain the honour and integrity of the nation.

The Corps of EME

Originally raised in May 1943 as the Corps of Indian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (IEME), the corps was re-christened as the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers on 1 January 2001. The President of India presented the Colours to the Corps on 15 October 1964 at 1 EME Centre, Secunderabad.
